Elon Musk, the visionary leader of Tesla, has enthusiastically endorsed the idea of the recently unveiled Cybertruck serving as a police vehicle. The endorsement came in response to a query posed by a Texas police department official on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
The police official inquired, “[Will] the Cybertruck make a good police vehicle? It’s still hard to find new vehicles to replenish our older police units,” while tagging Elon Musk in the post. In a gesture of strong approval, Musk responded with the “100” emoji.
The Cybertruck, heralded as an “armored personal carrier from the future,” was officially launched by Tesla in a highly anticipated event in December 2023. This marked the culmination of years of anticipation since Musk initially teased the vehicle in 2019. The truck boasts a distinctive angular body constructed from a stainless steel alloy developed by Tesla, earning it the accolade of being the “most unique thing on the road.”
During the launch event, Tesla revealed impressive capabilities of the Cybertruck, emphasizing its ability to carry over a ton in its bed and tow more than 5,000kg (11,000 pounds). Attendees were also treated to details about the prices and features of various versions of this groundbreaking pickup vehicle.
Elon Musk expressed his excitement about the future, stating, “Finally, the future will look like the future.” He further disclosed that full-scale production of the Cybertruck is slated to commence in early 2024. With Musk’s endorsement, the prospect of the Cybertruck joining police fleets adds another dimension to its futuristic appeal.
